Füle: Association with EU not to prevent Ukraine from developing relations with Russia

The EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will not be concluded owing to cessation of Ukraine's relations with Russia or other neighbors. This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle after talks with secretary of the national Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kliuyev.

European Commissioner once again described the position of the EU regarding the fact that any external pressure on Ukraine, associated with its desire to sign the Association Agreement with the EU, is unacceptable.

Füle added that the Association Agreement does not prevent Ukraine from developing a constructive relationship with the Eurasian Customs Union to the extent to which these relations are based on the principles of the World Trade Organization, and is not contrary to the principles of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between the EU and Ukraine.
