EU expects to see in Ukraine specific element of progress

Kyiv and Brussels examined the progress of Ukraine's implementation of the conditions necessary for the signing of the Association Agreement, there is forward progress, but the EU expects to see the specific elements of progress in the coming weeks, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said in Brussels on Tuesday following a meeting with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kliuyev.

"I welcome the progress made in the preparation of reforms on the operation of the Prosecutor General's Office in accordance with European standards, as well as the fact that the bill was submitted to the Venice Commission for assessment.

I also appreciate the initiative of the Justice Ministry to organize a series of round tables on the topic of electoral legislation. At the same time, the European Union expects to see the specific elements of progress in the coming weeks," he said.

He added that important legislative work needs to be carried out in the coming weeks in order to implement the EU benchmarks in time for the proper assessment by the EU before the Vilnius summit.
