The Eurasian Economic Commission board adopted a decision to impose a special safeguard duty on the dining and kitchen china, produced in Ukraine and China up to 28 September 2016.

According to spokesman of the EEC trade minister Yuri Armand, special duty is set at the following rates: 29 September 2013 - 28 September 2014 - 1479 USD per 1 ton; 29 September 2014 - 28 September 2015 – 1035.3 dollars per 1 ton; 29 September 2015 - 28 September 2016 - 591.6 USD per 1 ton.

"The measure would, first of all, act against the People's Republic of China and Ukraine as major suppliers of these dishes in the markets of the Customs Union countries," a statement says.

"Analysis of the information received during the investigation confirms the existence of grounds to impose a safeguard measure," EEC trade minister Andrei Slepnev explained the decision of the EEC board.

According to him, "in absolute terms, the volume of imports in 2009-2011 increased overall by 70.2%, and in the 1st half of 2012 compared with the 1st half of 2011 by additional 15.9%. At the same time, there was an increase in imports at prices significantly below the prices of the CU manufacturers, which caused a reduction in the ratio of output and the volume of imports of china dishes by 1.7 times. This has led to a decline in production and sales, a decline in market share of the CU companies, to the loss of production".
