As of August 1, there are 16 thousand 553 pre-school institutions in Ukraine, but queues to them decrease very slowly, education and science minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk told a press conference.
"The number of working kindergartens has increased by 1400, compared with the beginning of 2010. 1.5 million children will get pre-school education there," he said.
The minister noted that the coverage with pre-primary education increased from 53% to 93.5%.
Thus, according to Tabachnyk, the number of children in kindergartens in three years increased by 227 thousand.
At the same time, the minister said that the queues to kindergartens decrease very slowly. Therefore, it is necessary to create additional 100 thousand seats for children of pre-school children age in this and the following years, Tabachnyk said.
