Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Ukraine's liberation from Nazi invaders and the Victory Day is to unite Ukrainian people around common values and achievements, the shared memory of the millions of victims of the Great Patriotic War. This was stated by President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, speaking at the celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Kharkiv from the German fascist invaders.

According to the President, to this end, commemorative series of events "Glory to Ukraine liberators" kicked off in Luhansk at the beginning of the year.

"Today, such events are held in Kharkiv, and during 2013 such will be held in Sumy, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr region. November 6, we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv from the Nazis," press service of the President quoted Yanukovych.

"I am convinced that together we will honor the magnificent feat of liberators, will preserve the traditions of our older generations," Yanukovych said.
