The CIS Executive Committee is ready to contribute to the settlement of customs complications arising between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. This is stated in the official letter of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, press office of the Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers reports.

The CIS Executive Committee recalled that under Article 19 of the Agreement on free trade area Ukraine has the right to appeal to the CIS Economic Court, or to submit the question for consideration of the panel of experts - parties to the Agreement.

"The CIS Executive Committee understands the concerns of Ukraine about strengthening customs control over traditional Ukrainian exports. The unilateral imposition of customs restrictions contradicts the Agreement on establishment of a free trade area between the countries of the CIS," the letter reads.

According to the Ukrainian government "the official letter from the CIS Executive Committee confirms that the issues of customs administration of crossing goods between member states of the existing Agreement on the FTA within the CIS are governed by Article 17 of the Agreement, which provides for formalities connected with importation and exportation to be solely in accordance with the WTO provisions".
