Wages of miners will keep rising, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting for Miner's Day in Donetsk, presidential press office reports.  

"We associate this rise with the production growth and mines' efficiency improvement," he said. 
According to Yanukovych, average salary in the industry makes 5632 hryvnias, which is almost 10% higher than last year and higher than in any other industrial sector. "Everything we do for the development of coal industry we do, first of all, for people," the President said.

Yanukovych also added that timely payment of salaries to miners is the key task for authorities of all levels. "The state will strictly control the observance of all social guarantees for miners and their families, provided by the law, including decent pensions for veterans of mining labour," the President noted.

Moreover, the according to Yanukovych, the government will introduce effective incitements for qualified young people to choose the profession of a miner.
