Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament and member of the European People's Party (EPP) Elmar Brok invited the Committee members to hold an extraordinary meeting on August 28 to discuss, in particular, the effects of trade disputes between Russia and Ukraine.

"We have to assess the political implications of the latest threats, put forward by Russia which could restrict trade with Ukraine if the country signs the association and free trade agreement with the EU. This is a serious factor that could dampen future summit in Vilnius," Brock said, explaining the need for the event, EPP press office informs.

It is expected that the discussion will involve high-ranking EU officials. The Committee meeting to be held in the European Parliament on Wednesday morning and will be open.
