Within framework of preparation for the introduction of teaching in schools of the second foreign language, the Education Ministry will hold courses "Teaching Russian as a second foreign language" for teachers.
The Education Ministry planned a gradual reduction in time to study the first foreign language in 5-7 grades since September 1, 2013. This is done because of introduction of compulsory study of the second foreign language from 5th grade.
The initiative of the Education Ministry stumped many schools due to lack of specialists who know several foreign languages. To fulfill the requirements of the Ministry, school will have to teach Russian as a second foreign language, as under the law it is the language of national minorities.
