At the last meeting the government passed the draft Law on principles of regional policy, as provided for in the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda, the updated version of which was approved at the sixteenth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council in Luxembourg June 24, 2013.
"The draft law defines the legal, economic and organizational framework of development and implementation of regional policy," director of the regional policy department of the Economic Development Ministry Olena Nizhnyk said.
The draft law stipulates that the state's regional policy is a system of goals, activities, resources and coordinated actions of central and local executive authorities, local self-government to ensure a high level of quality of life of people all over Ukraine.
The adoption of the bill will introduce a systematic approach to the formulation and implementation of regional policy, will ensure the effective management of the process of regional development and will improve the quality of life in regions.
