In January-June 2013 Ukraine reduced its purchases of natural gas from the Russian "Gazprom" by 39.2%, or 15.9 billion down to 9.67 billion cubic meters,  the Gazprom report for the second quarter of 2013 reads.

Thus, Ukraine has become the fifth country-importer of Russian gas, although a year ago it was the largest buyer of fuel from "Gazprom".

In the first year half, the largest buyers from the Russian monopoly were: Belarus (10.39 billion cu m.), Turkey (12.9 billion), Italy (13.1 billion) and Germany (18.49 billion).

In general, the first half of gas imports to Ukraine, according to the Energy Ministry, made up 10.295.8 million cubic meters, of which more than 600 million cubic meters are import from Europe.

Gas for Ukraine from "Gazprom" is bought by National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and Ostchem Gas Trading.
