Nearly 450 thousand first-graders will sit at school desks this year, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"In 2013, 450 thousand first graders will go to school. This is by 17 thousand more than last year," he said.
Azarov also informed that 11 newly constructed schools will start to work on September 1. In addition, 58 schools will resume work after reconstruction and repair, and the construction of individual premises will completed in 11 secondary schools.
