Ukraine in the near future plans to increase volumes of trade in agricultural products to Iran five times. In particular, to increase trade turnover in grain and oil sectors, agrarian policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk said yesterday during a meeting with Iranian journalists.

"Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Islamic Republic of Iran today are at a high level. I especially want to mention mutual interest in agriculture. So, in September, the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Iranian Commission is expected to start work. It will help to further strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector," the minister said.

Prysiazhniuk also noted that in the near future foreign trade in agricultural products between Ukraine and Iran could increase by 3-5 times. So, today Iran is 13th among the countries-importers of Ukrainian agricultural products. However, it has a prospect to enter the 7th place.

"For that Ukraine plans to increase the export of grain, sunflower oil to Iran, as well as expand the range of Iranian exports to the domestic market of agricultural products. In addition, Ukraine is considering the introduction of achievements of national crop breeding and other scientific developments in the agricultural sector of Iran," Prysiazhniuk added.
