Newly elected chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Vyacheslav Ovcharenko considers groundless the statements about his dependence on the current power.
"I easily treat allegations of my ties with the ruling political force, as hints remain hints since they have no basis," he said in interview.
Ovcharenko reminded that the Parliament appointed him as judge of the Constitutional Court in 2006. "Since then I have faithfully performed my duties.
Apparently that's why colleagues expressed confidence in me by electing the chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on July 18 of this year," he suggested.
The CCU chairman considers honorable to occupy the highest post in the sole body of constitutional jurisdiction, and, in his view, this election is a symbol of personal responsibility to the state and every citizen.
"I am aware of this responsibility and will make every effort to justify the trust of my colleagues," Ovcharenko promised.
