Ukraine is interested in developing trade and economic relations with Belarus, first vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov said during his working visit to the neighboring republic.
 
The government delegation under his leadership met with representatives of the Belarusian authorities. Serhiy Arbuzov held talks with first vice Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

"Belarus is our important trade and economic partner. Last year, trade turnover between the countries reached record levels - $ 7.5 billion. We are interested in its growth and the fullest possible use," Arbuzov said.

He emphasized that he considered paramount tasks assigned by the two presidents Viktor Yanukovych and Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on July 18 in Kyiv. Also important is the implementation of the agreements, which the parties reached during a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on May 22. 

First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine proposed to pay special attention to the problematic issues of relations between the countries. In particular, situation with the Roshen and Inkerman products, an increase in transport licenses, expansion of the presence of Ukrainian airlines in the Belarusian airspace.

He added that during the meeting the parties agreed on steps to implement joint projects. Also, the first vice PM drew attention to the need to remove trade barriers and enhancing cross-sectoral collaboration. He was confident that the countries will be able to increase the pace of cooperation in energy, engineering, and agriculture.
