WebMoney works in Ukraine outside the legal field, director of the general department of information technologies and payment systems of the National Bank of Ukraine Natalia Syniavska told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
"As of today, WebMoney did not apply to register electronic system money," she said.
According to Syniavska, in 2010 this system of electronic money had submitted documents to the NBU, but received a number of comments. Afterwards, WebMoney submitted no documents to the National Bank.
The representative of the National Bank of Ukraine recalled that at the end of last year, the Parliament adopted amendments to the law on payment systems, taking into account the comments of the National Bank regarding the issue, circulation and production of electronic money. "After this, the National Bank of Ukraine has developed a new provision, which was published on the official website. After the provision is passed, the NBU will review the documents for registration of electronic money," she said.
Syniavska stressed that it is essential for all payment systems in Ukraine to work in the legal field, under clear and simple rules. "NBU does so to protect the rights of Ukrainian consumers regarding electronic money transactions... You can not even imagine how many complaints NBU receives from people affected by different systems," she said.
