The Hydrometeorological Centre recorded anomalous low water temperature in the Black Sea, deputy director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Anatoliy Prokopenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Of course, the water temperature in the Black Sea is abnormal for this period, but these phenomena are not exceptions," he said.
According to him, the Hydrometeorological Centre recorded the low temperature in the Black Sea at the level of 14 degrees near Yevpatoria and of 19 degrees near Odesa. However, the overall temperature of the entire sea area was from +19 to +24 degrees.
According to Prokopenko, this anomaly is observed every year due to the fact that wind drives away warm water from sea shores, and then cold water rises from deeper layers to the surface.
