13 regions of Ukraine increased volumes of housing completions for the first half-year of 2013, the Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Ministry of Ukraine press service reports.
Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolayiv and Donetsk regions are leading. The greatest reduction in comparison with the same period last year is observed in Kirovohrad, Lviv, Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions.
"In early March, the local executive authorities were brought prognostic indicator of housing completion. The implementation of these plans provides for putting into operation of about 11 million square meters of housing, which is 2% more than in 2012. Comparing rates for six months of the year, only 7 regions executed more than 50% of the annual target. These are Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, Donetsk, Mykolayiv, Rivne, Cherkasy region and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," minister Temnyk informed.
He noted that the local executive authorities should make arrangements for effective and systematic monitoring of the progress of construction of objects included in the plan, and for assistance for citizens to exercise their right to housing, including through participation in government housing programs.
As of today, 2.037 families got state support within implementation of housing programs.
"The Ministry carries out constant monitoring of the programs implementation. At present, in general, all programs are completed by 30% of the annual target. The best situation is in Sevastopol - 79% of the annual target is done through active implementation of programs to reduce the cost of mortgages and "affordable housing" 30/70.
Regional development minister appealed to the leaders of the regions to intensify public awareness campaign on the implementation of the country's public housing programs. He instructed the managers of local authorities to take control over the implementation and funding of housing programs, primarily with local budgets, and coordinate the work of banks, developers and citizens in the implementation of the program to reduce the costs of preferential mortgage loans.
