Ukrainians won 328 medals at international sports competitions for seven months in 2013, youth and sports minister of Ukraine Ravil Safiullin told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"As of August 1, Ukrainian athletes won 85 gold medals, 119 silver medals and 124 bronze medals at international competitions (World Championships, European Universiade, European Cups). All in all 328 medals," he said.

The minister hopes that in 2013 Ukrainian athletes will beat the record of 2011, when the largest number of medals was conquered by - 505.

According to him, Ukrainian athletes won 26 medals at the World Games for non-Olympic sports. "To date, we have eight gold, ten silver and eight bronze medals. In the team standings we occupy the seventh place," the minister noted.

Safiullin added that Ukrainians won 50 awards in the Deaflympics. "They have won ten gold medals, 18 silver and 22 bronze medals, occupying the third position in overall ranking," youth and sports minister summed up.
