The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is going to disclose a conspiracy of major food retail chains in Ukraine this fall, acting ACU chairman Rafael Kuzmin told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We cannot tell some of the nuances right now for purposes of confidentiality, but the decision on the cartel, which involves almost all the major retail chains, is likely to be adopted this fill," he said.
Kuzmin stressed that representatives of the retail chains are aware of the ongoing investigation. "We have this investigation done, and then we'll teach them to comply with competition law," the official assured.

According to him, the parties to the agreement may face a fine of up to 10% of their annual turnover. He also stressed that the result of the cartel activity was an increase in prices for socially important food products by 20-30%.

"Now they are preparing their arguments that the alleged price depends on the supplier, the manufacturer, and they allegedly did not participate in formation of prices," Kuzmin said.

However, he reminded that if the cartel participants confess to the illegal collusion, they may avoid the penalty.
