Ukraine insists on giving preference to Ukrainian grain while exporting by grain traders, agrarian policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"We are constantly negotiating with grain traders, and on behalf of the state offer them and insist on the fact that most of the grain export should be from Ukraine, as grain traders are multinational and might favor the grain export from countries, where they are headquartered," the minister said.
According to him, these negotiations have already produced results. "This, as first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said, made it possible to increase the prices for wheat and barley. Since February, we, understanding that the crop will be very large, have unloaded and reduced transient grain reserves to a record low. It also will provide an opportunity to remove the problem of surplus grain, which is in the internal market," Prysiazhniuk noted.
