Prime Minister of Libya Ali Zeidan assured deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostiantyn Hryshchenko that nothing threatens the life and health of citizens of Ukraine, members of the Etel crew that were captured by militants in Libya on July 17, the press service of the vice Prime Minister reports.

The head of the Libyan government said this during a meeting with Hryshchenko, who on behalf of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych paid a working visit to Tripoli yesterday.

Hryshchenko told the Libyan government about the official position of Kyiv regarding the need of early release of the detained Etel vessel in the port city of Benghazi on July 17 with 19 Ukrainian sailors on board, noting the unacceptability of such actions against the citizens of Ukraine.

He stressed that the early release and return of the Ukrainian citizens to their homeland is a priority for the government.

Zeidan said that he instructed the justice minister of Libya to arrive in the city of Benghazi in order to address the situation of detained Ukrainians.

During the meetings, Hryshchenko noted that Ukraine is interested in strengthening of a constructive dialogue with Libya. It supports the processes of democratic reforms and measures aimed to stabilize the situation in the country, address the security issues, develop the armed forces and law enforcement agencies and implement the reform package.

In addition, the deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to the safety of citizens of Ukraine, who work in Libya.
