Ukraine is trying to return home 49-year-old Oleksandr Fedorovych, a fisherman survived after the accident in the Sea of Azov, in spite of the initiated proceedings against him for illegal fishing in Russia, consul general of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don Vitali Moskalenko informed.
According to Moskalenko, Russian investigators have not yet given permission for his departure to Ukraine, and now they decide whether the Ukrainian will be detained or taken on his own recognizance. Consul general added that Fedorovych has a lawyer, and the Consulate General keeps this case under control.
The diplomat stressed that the Sea of Azov is undivided between Ukraine and Russia.
"In accordance with the bilateral agreement, the water area of the Sea of Azov is shared between the two countries. That is, there are no coastal waters," Moskalenko said.
