Ukrainian first deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov demanded at a government meeting on Monday that wage arrears at the largest debtor companies be repaid by the end of 2013, social policy minister Natalia Korolevska told a briefing.
"Arbuzov gave a clear instruction. First and foremost, it’s necessary to draft individual debt repayment schedules for all companies, agree them with the Finance Ministry, the Economy Ministry and the Social Policy Ministry, and submit them for approval by September 1, 2013," she told a press conference on Monday.
Korolevska said that the first vice Premier stressed that wage arrears at ten largest municipally owned debtor enterprises should be repaid by November 1, by the end of the year at the ten largest state-owned debtor companies.
She noted that the ten largest debtor companies include enterprises subordinated to central executive government agencies, in particular, Ukroboronprom, the State Property Fund, the Infrastructure Ministry, the State Agency for Management of State Corporate Rights and Property, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, the State Space Agency, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities and the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine.
