President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stressed the need to strengthen protection of the cultural heritage of the country.
"The authorities should step up cooperation with religious organizations on the implementation of more effective policies for the protection of cultural heritage, taking care of each construction," Yanukovych said during the solemn event, dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to Yanukovych, the government, business and religious organizations should work together to shape the responsibility of every citizen for the spiritual heritage.
"We must realize that we are the heirs of the outstanding tradition, the founder of which was one of the European outposts - Kyiv Rus. It demonstrated to the world the highest examples of spirituality, legal thinking, self-government and public policy," he said and stressed the need to honor the unity of the faith, the people and the state.
