Working groups of the Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Ministry will maintain control over unauthorized increase in housing and public utilities tariffs, minister Hennady Temnyk said during a conference call, ForUm correspondent reports.
He said that the Ministry set up four working groups, which directly inspects regions on the grounds for raising tariffs for housing and communal services.
"I personally control one of these groups. We have already found irregularities in Volyn, Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy oblasts and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The working groups will prepare reports on these regions, and will also recommend them to reduce their public utilities rates," the minister said.
According to him, a week ago one of the working groups prevented tariff increases in Poltava region, recommending the village council to recalculate rates. "Public utilities tariffs in the current year should be stable. The local councils, allowing higher tariffs, will bear responsibility. This issue will be on the special control of the government," he concluded.
