The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine summoned temporary attorney of the Russian Federation in Ukraine Andrei Vorobyov in connection with the incident, which took place yesterday, July 17, in the Sea of Azov, where the motorboat of the Border Service of Russia collided with the Ukrainian launch, killing two citizens of Ukraine.
As the Foreign Ministry press office reports, acting foreign minister of Ukraine Ruslan Demchenko expressed deep concern of the Ukrainian party in connection with the actions of Russian border guards and their actions, which have led to tragic consequences, and handed a note to the representative of the Russian Embassy.
"The Ukrainian party demands a thorough and objective investigation into the incident, involving the Ukrainian and Russian authorities, as well as measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in future," he said.
In response, the Russian party expressed its condolences on the incident, and assured that it will take necessary measures to ensure the proper investigation into it. The Russian party has also assured that it will provide full cooperation to the treatment of victims, the search for the missing, as well as repatriation of bodies of Ukrainian citizens.
Consul General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don arrived at the scene to ensure the coordination of the competent authorities of Ukraine and Russia to investigate into incident, finding missing persons in Ukraine, provide victim assistance and repatriation of bodies to their homeland.
