Heat tariffs for the population will not rise in the new heating season, chief of the department for economics of life support systems of the Regional Development Ministry Dmytro Moiseev told a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports.

"According to reports, the current rates will not rise," he stressed.

Such a belief was supported by first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee on construction, urban development, housing and communal services and regional policy Hennady Zubkov. "No one will raise rates. Today, people have no money to pay the tariff burden. It is the state and the government, who having taken the responsibility, who are to think how to raise funds".

According to Moiseev, the Regional Development Ministry has worked out a draft resolution of the Cabinet, providing for reducing the gas consumption for the population by 50%.

In particular, the document provides for substitution of gas by alternative fuels. This will allow saving gas consumption by a quarter.

In turn, the deputy director of the Center for Energy Studies Vadym Glamazdin noted that to date, the average tariff for heat energy in Ukraine is the lowest in Europe, half as much as in Poland and four times that of Germany.
