Railway fare in Ukraine has been raised since July 16.
As the Ukrzaliznytsia Ukrainian railway company press service informs, the cost of travel in domestic traffic is increased by 10%, in the international – by 5%.
The press service noted that the increase in the cost of travel in internal traffic applies only to the second-class compartment cars and, in the international - to all categories of cars, except sleeping coaches. Rates have not changed for travel in trains "Intercity +" and commuter trains.
The next stage of the tariff increase will be implemented from October 1: by 10% in domestic traffic and by 5%- in international.
"Raising rates in international traffic concern only tickets, which is one of the components of the fare (full passenger fare consists of a ticket price + cost of reserved seats + VAT + insurance fee + commission)," the press service said.
The Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that the increase in tariffs for passenger transportation will partially reduce the loss-making passenger services and direct the funds at repairing cars.
In addition, the rates growth is reasoned by the need to reduce cross-subsidization of passenger transportation at expense of freight traffic.
