Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said that historical events should not split, but promote reconciliation and cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
"The past, even the most dramatic, should not split peoples. Honestly assessed past should serve as reconciliation and cooperation between our peoples and our two independent states," the President of Poland said in Lutsk on Sunday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Volyn tragedy.
"I wish that this wound is healed faster in the memory of the two brotherly peoples. We must not forget that a third person, who always threatened our independence and our freedom, always benefitted from the conflict between the Polish and Ukrainian peoples," he stressed.
According to the Polish President, reconciliation based on truth is above the factors, which lead to split-up and distrust among nations.
