Ukrainian heads Transnistrian govt

A native of Odesa region Tetyana Turan became new head of government of Transnistria.

Her candidacy was unanimously upheld by the Supreme Council. According to local law, the prime minister is nominated by the leader of the unrecognized republic Yevhen Shevchuk.

"Despite the fact that we observe negative developments in the economy in all the countries, we maintain a certain level of stability. The task of government is to minimize the negative impact on the economy outside of Transnistria despite the fact we do not have such great opportunities as we would like to. The economic situation is getting worse. We see how the Russian ruble devalues. We see the negative developments in the neighboring economies. In this situation the Government will make every effort  to maintain social stability," Shevchuk said.
