Foreign minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius denied some media reports that Ukraine would not sign the Association Agreement with the EU this year.

"Lithuania has never had a doubt about the ability of Ukraine to sign Association Agreement at the Vilnius summit of "Eastern Partnership" in November. At the same time, we constantly point out that this will take place when the Ukrainian authorities reach adequate progress in three areas, in particular with regard to the election, selective justice and general reforms," Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU quoted the minister.

"If Ukraine is ready to sign the Association Agreement, the EU will also be ready," he noted.

Linkevičius recalled that in May this year, the European Commission has approved a draft decision of the EU Council to sign the association agreement with Ukraine, which is a technical but very important step in demonstrating the readiness of the EU to sign an agreement in November.
