State support for many kinds of sports is vitally important, president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, vice-president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (ІAAF) and candidate for the president’s post of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Serhiy Bubka told a press conference on July 9 in Donetsk, where he attended the opening of the Youth World Championships in Athletics.
However, he explained: "People have different standards of living and different financial situation. And if we talk about athletics, it has never been commercial. No one will pay money for athletics. But it is the basic kind of all kinds of sports."
Bubka also said that the development of mass sports needs support of the leaders of regions and city, because it is our children, our future and health of our people."
