The Social Policy Ministry prepared a draft concept of social development of Ukraine till 2023, minister Natalia Korolevska said before the meeting of the commission for settlement of wage arrears and other social payments, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to the official, the document was developed in conjunction with leading experts and scholars in the social and economic sphere. "Basically, it's a road map for social sector development - with clear benchmarks, where everyone will be able to see himself in 3, 5, 10 years," the minister said.
She noted that now the main goal is to work out the document, which will be implemented in practice, not just stand on a shelf next to hundreds of other strategies or programs. "In order to do this, it must get approval of the public. In the near future we will initiate a broad public debate on the Concept," Korolevska promised.
She explained that one of the immediate tasks is adoption of a new Labor Code. "There is a need to demonstrate a new quality of legislative work at time of its adopting and possible amending. There should be a public debate, discussion. People need to understand why they need new labor law, and why is it better than the previous one," the official concluded.
