Ukraine, Slovakia and the European Union are in active consultation to determine the best legal principles on the reverse gas supplies to Ukraine, energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky said after the trilateral meeting with European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger and State Secretary at the Ministry of theEconomy Dusan Petrik, held yesterday in Brussels.

The minister informed that two options are considered in the issue of technological and physical gas deliveries from the EU to Ukraine through Slovakia, which have to pass legal review of the European Commission.

He noted that next week the Ukrainian and Slovak partners will provide enhanced tried and tested materials on the subject for the European Commission experts to determine the most legally way to transport natural gas through the territory of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine.

Speaking about the recent negative reaction of the Russian party about the prospects of reverse gas supplies from the EU to Ukraine, the minister expressed his confidence that this is the evidence of "going the right way". "If someone has such a response, it means we're going right," he says.
Stavytsky assured that in this matter the Ukrainian side "does not want to offend anyone, but aims to reach agreement on international standards."

In addition, the minister informed that the test mode of gas supply from Slovakia, which started on May 15, will continue "until we decide which way we will move forward after the examination".
