60% of tourists come to Kyiv with the purpose of leisure activity, head of the Kyiv City State Administration tourism department Tetiana Slyshik said during round table, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Analysis of purposes of travel to Kyiv for the years 2011-2012 showed that 60% of tourists visit the capital for the purpose of leisure, 30% - come on business, 10% - eco-tourism, health, etc. On this basis, in the coming years we will focus on the need to develop event tourism," she said.
 
As an example, the official cited the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, which will take place in Kyiv at the end of August this year.

Slyshik also reported that according to the State Border Service, more than 600 thousand people arrived in Kyiv from abroad in the first half year of 2013.

In addition, she said, revenues from tourist fees increased this year in the capital. "Compared with 2012, incomes from tourist tax for the first six months of 2013 increased by 60%. In 2011 we received approximately 3 million UAH, in 2012 – 2.6 million UAH, and already in the first half of 2013 the figure was 4 million UAH," the representative of the KCSA said.
