The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has taken into account the proposals of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to the law of Ukraine on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine to improve the protection of personal data.

As ForUm correspondent reports, 373 MP voted for the amendments.

"This bill can not be signed by the President of Ukraine for the following reasons: it provides that the government within three months should ensure the destruction of applications for registration of personal databases, which were filed prior to the adoption of this law, to eliminate the database register, etc.

That is, at the legislative level, there is a situation when existence of the state register and its elimination is provided for at the same time," representative of the President in the Parliament Yuri Miroshnichenko said.

Thus, according to the changes to the earlier law, a provision, stating that application for registration of personal database submitted prior to the entry into force of the law shall be destroyed, is eliminated. There is also eliminated a provision on liquidation of the state register of personal databases. Applications for registration of personal data, submitted before enactment of the law, as well as the State Register of personal databases shall be transmitted to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights.

It is worth noting that the bill, according to the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction Arseniy Yatseniuk is necessary for the further European integration of Ukraine.
