Over 19 billion cubic meters of gas should be injected in Ukrainian UGS facilities before autumn-winter period for transit commitments to be fulfilled, Gazprom states.

As the company’s press service informs, the Gazprom headquarters hosted a working meeting between chairman of the Company's Management Committee Alexey Miller and Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuri Boiko.

“The parties discussed natural gas injection into underground gas storage facilities by Naftogaz Ukrainy. It was noted that Ukrainian UGS facilities should store over 19 billion cubic meters of gas by the beginning of the autumn-winter period for the Ukrainian company to fulfill its commitments on uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to Europe,” the message reads.

The meeting also highlighted that the USD 1 billion advanced payment made by Gazprom for gas transit could be used for filling UGS facilities with natural gas. The decision to grant the payment had been taken on June 26, 2013.
