Release of biometric passports may start in year-end

Pilot projects for the production of biometric passports can be launched at the end of this year or next year, but only under adequate funding, chairman of the State Migration Service Mykola Kovalchuk told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Everything depends on funding," the head of the Migration Service said.

However, Kovalchuk emphasized that according to the law, the equipment for the production of biometric passports should be in all migrant centers. "Now the equipment is available in 206 centers out of more than 700," he concluded.
