The Foreign Ministry warned against politicizing the issues related to the tragic events of the Ukrainian-Polish history during the Second World War.

"The Foreign Ministry would not want to politicize the issue and considers necessary to focus on the proper reverence the memory of all the victims of the tragic pages of the Ukrainian-Polish history during the Second World War," deputy director of information policy department of the Ministry Vasyl Zvarych said in interview, when asked to comment on the decision of the Polish Sejm on the Volyn tragedy.

In late June, the Polish Senate adopted a statement on the 70th anniversary of the Volyn crime, in which these events are named "ethnic cleansing with genocidal features" and is noted that about 100 thousand Poles were the victims of anti-Polish campaign of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. 55 out of 100 senators voted for the document, 20 voted against.
