"The next six months will be extremely important period for the EU, both in terms of internal development and in the context of strengthening its position in the international arena.
I am convinced that Lithuania will successfully implement the priorities of its presidency to ensure financial and economic stability of the European Union, its energy security, as well as the development of closer cooperation of the EU with its closest partners," the congratulatory message reads.
"One of the notable events of the Lithuanian Presidency will certainly be the Summit of the Eastern Partnership initiative in November this year in the capital of your state. I expect that this important event in Vilnius will be a historic event on the path towards the European integration of Ukraine - the signing of the Association Agreement with European Union," the message reads.
In addition, he expressed confidence that Ukraine and Lithuania will be able to make a significant contribution to the development of strong, secure, prosperous and united Europe.
"I am sincerely grateful to you personally, Madam President, and the Lithuanian people for a friendly and consistent support, which we feel in the process of Ukraine's integration into the European Union," President noted.
