Realization of the joint Ukrainian-Russian project on production of military cargo plane An-70 must be completed, defense minister Pavlo Lebedev told journalists in Kyiv, ForUm's correspondent reports.
"Ukraine has obligations in the amount of 230 million hryvnias, and the Armed Forces have already financed 60 million. The Defense Ministry will continue working in this direction," the minister assured.
As reported, minister Lebedev declared that Ukraine had offered Russia a number of joint projects in the sphere of military cooperation, but has not received an answer yet.
On April 12, Ukraine's PM Mykola Azarov said Ukraine would continue with the An-70 project even if Russia withdraws from it.
On April 18 Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov said Russia did not abandon the plans and would stick with its original agreement with Ukraine to jointly build the Antonov An-70 aircraft.
