Ukraine is gradually approaching the introduction of European social standards, European standard of living - it is the task of the government, President Viktor Yanukovych announced during a meeting with candidates for the post of chairmen of regional state administrations, the press office of the head of state reported Wednesday.
"We are gradually moving towards European social standards. It is quite natural that every year we will be doing the wage indexing, and plan the growth of social standards," Yanukovych emphasized.
He noted that since 2010, real wages, pensions and social benefits have grown. "Despite the economic crisis in the world, real wages are growing annually. They have increased from 2010 by no less than 10%," he said.
Last year, he said that pensions and social payments rose by 14%.
