During today's meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the project of the Defence Ministry on monetary compensation for rental housing for servicemen, defense minister Pavlo Lebedev told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Today, the project of the Defence Ministry was adopted regarding compensation for the rental housing for military personnel. Compensation amounts to 2.5 thousand UAH for a family of three. Thus, the issue on compensation for housing was resolved," Lebedev said.
According to him, the issue on provision of housing for contract soldiers was addressed as well. "In two years, we plan to get 10 thousand beds," the minister stressed.
At the same time, he said that today, 45 thousand soldiers in Ukraine keep standing in the queue for housing.
"There will be no miracles, but the problem with service housing will be solved. The budget of the army modernization program amounts to 130 billion UAH for five years. 1.2 billion UAH were allocated for housing construction. Using these facilities and fund of barracks, it is possible to build housing," he summed up.
