Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych launched at the Alchevsk metallurgical mill the first in Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States gas turbine combined cycle power plant, the press service of the President reported.
"Ukraine has taken a new path. Firstly, we care about the future of our children, about the environment, and secondly - about the development of production. Implementing such projects at the Alchevsk steelworks, we achieve two objectives. First - factory workers, the shareholders have chosen to modernize the company, using energy-efficient technologies, and second - this is environment," the President of Ukraine said, Ukrinform informed.
He also noted that the government will support the enterprise, and the construction of a sinter plant will begin soon.
The gas turbine combined cycle power plant is the first station on the territory of the CIS, which generates electricity from recycling recoverable resources of production. This power plant will fully provide the allied businesses with electricity.
