The European Union urges Ukraine to adopt legislative acts that will improve the system for granting asylum to refugees, deputy chairman of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Mariya Yurikova, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The cornerstone of work with Ukraine is the protection of human rights. Therefore, the EU is working with the UN Office to provide some asylum. The budget of one of such project amounts to 1 million 400 thousand euros, of another project that aims to improve international protection and integration - 1 million 100 thousand euros. I thank the United Nations and the government of Ukraine for cooperation and progress in improvement of the legislative framework. In addition, I urge the Ukrainian government to adopt all legislative acts that will improve the asylum system," she said.

According to Yurikova, there are about six million refugees around the world. "The EU is trying to find means to support these people. About 840 million euros are allocated for this," she summed up.
