The blocking of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s Parliament, by the opposition is the reason for the Parliament’s ineffective work, leader of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Oleksandr Yefremov said.

"One side makes declarations, the other side declares wishes and the third side blocks [the Parliament] – thus, we have ineffective work of the parliament. Many problems, about which Arseniy Petrovych [Yatseniuk, the head of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction] speaks, are caused by the inability of the Parliament to adopt extremely important laws," he said, Interfax informed.

Yefremov noted that if the political forces worked together, they would be able to make effective decisions.

"If we work in the Parliament, we will always manage to reach a compromise," he said.

In turn, the leader of the Communist Party faction, Petro Symonenko, stressed that the situation in the Verkhovna Rada was linked with the coming presidential election.
