The Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine admits the necessity to increase state financing for treatment of AIDS and tuberculosis patients, head of the Ministry's state purchase department Galyna Dovhanchyn told a briefing, ForUm's correspondent reports.

In response to ForUm's questions, she also admitted that the allocated means are not enough to cover treatment of the mentioned diseases. The official explained that purchases of medical products ad equipment for treatment of AIDS and tuberculosis are not fully financed by the state budget.

"Every year in June we appeal to the Cabinet to increase the financing for this category," she specified and added that this year the Ministry had already sent the request.

"We are still waiting for a response, but considering experience of past years, we expect a positive decision. However, I admit that the above mentioned diseases require significantly bigger support from the state, considering the morbidity rate in Ukraine," Dovhanchyn summed up.
