Translation of text of Association Agreement into Ukrainian completed

The translation of the text of the Association Agreement with the European Union into the Ukrainian language has already been completed, and technical mistakes are being corrected, director of the Foreign Ministry’s EU Department Vsevolod Chentsov told a round table in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"We’ve completed the translation work. We’re currently obtaining final approval from Ministries and departments, concerning possible technical revisions to the Ukrainian text, as it should be clear to the agencies that will use it, and the phraseology used in the agreement should correspond to the one that has already been adopted in Ukrainian legislation, in order to avoid any double interpretations," he said.

He also noted that the current text of the agreement is almost final, but debate is ongoing about the provisions of the draft, which will have to be amended due to Croatia’s upcoming accession to the EU.

Chentsov said that this text could be taken into account, but it is impossible to say that "it is one hundred percent the text that we will sign this autumn."

In turn, Batkivschyna MP and head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria said: "I think that we will soon get the text in the Parliament and the committee and post it on the web site of the Verkhovna Rada."
