Member countries of the Common Economic Space (CES) would like that Ukraine did not sign a contract with other organizations, which would prevent its movement towards the CES, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said after the signing ceremony of bilateral Ukrainian-Belarusian documents in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"As for the EU and the CES, I would suggest the media, in particular, not to escalate the situation. There's nothing extraordinary in the fact that Ukraine is now negotiating with the CES," Lukashenko said.

He recalled that Russia is also carrying out talks with the EU on a new agreement, as well as Kazakhstan.

"The only thing we want that Ukraine does not sign with other organizations such an agreement, which would close its path of movement towards the Common Economic Space and the future of the economic union, which we are talking about. This is what we worry about," the head of Belarusian state said.

"We would like to see Ukraine closer to us. That's the whole truth," Lukashenko added.
